Hello and welcome to Live.Life.Brisbane!
A few years ago, I made the decision to leave my comfortable life in Sydney behind and move to Brisbane. For a boy. And when I do things, I like to do things properly. So I left my job, my friends, my family, my apartment and basically my entire universe behind to move here.
“Are you nuts?!” my friends had asked. More like certifiably insane because unfortunately, Brisbane was exactly how I remembered it from previous visits: sticky oppressive heat, orange taxis masquerading as Yellow Cabs, an obsession with the colour maroon, and seriously lacking in the cultural department.
What was a girl to do? I stuck my head in the sand (naturally) and got stuck into finishing my training. The days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months. Eventually, 2 years had gone by and I had very little to show for it.
Thankfully, a year in another state gave me some much needed perspective. I came back to Brisbane hungry to explore everything it had to offer, and determined to love living in this city. Perhaps even call myself a Queenslander one day despite my lack of love for maroon. Live.Life.Brisbane is a photographic record of my own personal journey and is very much a work in progress. Adjusting to life in any new city is hard and its even harder if you don’t have someone to point things out. So I sincerely hope that this site will inspire other transplants (like myself) to explore Brisbane and learn to love living here.
Thank you for stopping by 🙂
